upcoming Oakland events

Celebrate better bike access, view the heavens, and of course, shop local. There are a couple of Oakland book signings coming up, too.

My Town Montclair book signing - Thursday, December 15, 7-10pm. Author and photographer Reenie Raschke will be signing her new book, My Town Montclair. She created it as a gift of memories for her children, but is a great book for anyone with roots in Montclair. (free)

Celebrate new bikeways - Friday, December 16, 10:30-11am. Press conference with Walk Oakland Bike Oakland, East Bay Bike Coalition, and city officials to celebrate 18 miles of newly painted and signed bikeways around Oakland. (free)

NightSchool at Chabot Space and Science Center - Friday, December 16, 7-11pm. Check out Chabot's NightSchool: Holiday Kitchen Science Lab, Telescopes 101 and Stargazing 101. (18+ only, $5/$15)

Oakland Landmarks book signing - Saturday, December 17, 2-5:30pm. Oakland historian Annalee Allen and artist Heidi Wyckoff will be at the Montclair Plaza Collective to sign their new book, Oakland Landmarks. (free)

Lakeshore: Holiday Fun - Friday, December 16, 5-7pm. Saturday, December 17, 3-5pm. Fun for the holidays, with merchant specials, Santa visits, free carriage rides, and more. (free)

Use Your Money Uptown Crawl - December 16-18. Opening December 16, 7-10pm. Join Ella Baker Center at the Betti Ono Gallery to celebrate the burgeoning arts scene in Uptown with a 'use your money' crawl. (free)

Holiday Popup Artisan Market - Sunday, December 18, 12-4pm. Urban Legend Cellars hosts a popup artisan market featuring Tina Tamale, Boucherie Meats, Semita Dulce, The Uncommon Pickle, Urban Preserves, Sajen Jamu, Baia Pasta and more.
