his lovely sign is not far from Lake Merritt, next to Leaning Tower of Pizza. It's a funny little commercial zone surrounded by apartments; if you stick to Lakeshore (which looks great these days -- loving the redone lanes and increased bike-friendliness) you'd never know it was there. Shout out to

ReplyDeleteThat storefront is actually becoming a bike shop. They updated the sign this week, but they went to some trouble to keep they same aesthetic (although they removed the broken neon):

Looks like it will be a great addition to my neighborhood. With the Leaning Tower next door and the wonderful Cafe 504 less than a block away at 504 Wesley, that intersection is a model for how even a small cluster of businesses can center a community.

ReplyDeleteI just found this little neighborhood the other day, walking from my new place up on Grand to the Merritt Restaurant (nice, long walk). The new bike shop is looking awesome. Thanks to the owners for reusing that sign and making a great looking store.
