Just found a series of good photos on, "Google Images", just punch in "Lineman's club sign". They did a beautiful job rehabbing it!. I worked for a time in 1970 at the old Simas Brothers gas station on 14th and E14th streets, right down the street from The Lineman's..Lot of fading memories, mostly good..newtonpohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16167882374622571959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1687594767741711928.post-30222663245904996182017-11-30T14:17:48.187-08:002017-11-30T14:17:48.187-08:00So any chance we could get a picture of the restor...So any chance we could get a picture of the restored sign? That is a great story. I'm sitting with Jim Fassio, Russ's brother and he loved the post and tribute to Russ. He said that the bar was originally owned by Frank Swan who Russ met while in the Army in Germany. He was Russ's Sergeant. They became friends as they were both from Oakland. Russ use to go to the bar as a patron and to visit his buddy from the Army. Swan ultimately decided it was time to sell and Russ became the new owner.<br />Jim FitzsimonsAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18123041190488374481noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1687594767741711928.post-56760299225145411132017-11-28T16:16:59.113-08:002017-11-28T16:16:59.113-08:00That is good news. I have been getting my haircut at Trudy's across the street for the past 10 years and I would have sworn, under oath, that I saw it this year. Is memory the first thing to go? These were the hardest core Raider fans I've ever known, made a favorable comment one day about the 49ers and almost lost my life. Amazing bar from a sociological perspective, all races were there but all were exactly the same as their love of the Raiders united them. Bar was owned by Russ Fassio, a great guy and his brother, Jim Fassio (my father-in-law) still lives in San Leandro.Jim Fitzsimonshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09258838855542476871noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1687594767741711928.post-49195718382119781162009-08-31T14:42:58.265-07:002009-08-31T14:42:58.265-07:00@TNPA: Thanks. Part of the fun of this series of signs is finding them. If I'd gotten frustrated looking for that one, I'd have put out a plea. Another thing I like about it is that it now sits between two southeast asian businesses: it's as if the history of the neighborhood is inscribed in that one little piece of real estate.Colburnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01717077649954087874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1687594767741711928.post-80900138572277634192009-08-31T09:38:56.891-07:002009-08-31T09:38:56.891-07:00i really like this series.i really like this series.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00439175791625853249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1687594767741711928.post-61583608976051540052009-08-28T21:33:13.695-07:002009-08-28T21:33:13.695-07:00What a great sign.
