Just added Oakland to my bucket list. :) It looks like an amazing place. I really like the section with all the signs, too. Maybe we'll be lucky enough to see some of them this fall.

Hit the mother lode with MLK Day service events, including the aforementioned Shepherd Canyon Park one. Check out idealist.org for other options: Peralta Hacienda, Urban Releaf, Madison Middle School, Lake Merritt and Gardens, Sobrante Park Middle School, and more.

And for the record, the Shepherd Canyon cleanup event is Monday, January, 16, 9am-12:30pm. Meet at the Escher Gate.
